The McConnell Mansion
After lunch we visited the McConnell Mansion. It was built for William J. McConnell and his family. McConnell served as one of Idaho's first U. S. Senators and then later he was governor of Idaho for four years. The last owner, Dr. Frederic Church, took a room here in 1941, the first day he showed up to teach history at the University of Idaho, and remained until his death in 1965. Having bought the house in the meantime, he donated the house to the county historical society.
