The Resolute Desk

This desk was from the wood of the British Arctic Exploration ship HMS Resolute, which was rescued and repaired by Americans and returned to the British.  Years later, when the ship was taken out of commission, two desks were constructed from the ships wood.  Queen Victoria gave one to Rutherford B. Hayes and kept the other for herself.
