Sonora Inn
Now the harrowing part began, as we attempted to get to Mariposa where we had reservations for the night. Little did we know that in several area the roads had been washed out. At one point I misunderstood where Waze was telling me to go and we ended going down this incredibly steep and winding road that made all those we had done before seem tame. But we discovered that it wasn't the worst of it when we encountered the road block. We managed to work our way back to the nearest town, only to find several places, included the post office, closed. Finally we came across a couple of very friendly women who explained that it would take hours to work our way to Mariposa. At that moment we decided to head to our next destination, while trying to book the night at the hotel we planned to stay at the following night. One of the women gave us excellent directions to Sonora, our new destination, and we headed off. Booking the night at the Sonora Inn was not a problem but the hotel in Mariposa was less accommodating. The scenery on the was to Sonora was beautiful, but it was hard to appreciate under the circumstances.
