Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

Our first stop on Saturday was the visitor center at the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument.  In this area along the Snake River Smithsonian scientists excavated 120 horse skulls and 20 complete horse skeletons, but these horses were from the Pliocene Epoch, a period 5,333 million to 2.58 million years ago.
